As well as walking and boarding dogs, I also take care of cats (and other pets!) whilst the owners are away. This is a part of my business that I love just as much, and I have learnt so much about these beautiful animals. Generally speaking, on my first visit cats tend to want to cautiously suss out the stranger in their house and I always let the cat approach me first when it's ready to. Once cats are comfortable with me I'm very lucky to be the recipient of their purring and, best of all, a cat sitting curled up on my lap. It's very comforting and relaxing! Unfortunately, my dogs (lurchers) aren't keen on cats, otherwise I would definitely have one.
Sadly, we have had a local cat die recently, poisoned after digesting anti-freeze. Apparently cats and dogs love the taste of anti-freeze so please be very careful when you top up your car this winter and clean up any spills.
